As with many innovations in the realm of mechanical and structural design, the requirements placed on the building materials used is typically quite demanding. For ascetic reasons, the structural material chosen for this pool enclosure was primarily extruded aluminum. An interesting aspect of this project was that the section properties of each (complex) extruded geometry needed to be calculated. Also, physical load tests were conducted to verify the bending strength of the different beam geometries. |
